MERRY MERRY MARKET BARN – DECEMBER 11, 2021
We know that when darkness begins to fall earlier and earlier in the orchard we are drawing close to an end of our season. As we prepare to protect the trees and stack the applewood by the fire we also start to dream about our loved ones tucked close around us, celebrating what really matters. We would love to invite you and your closest out to help us start a new tradition here on the farm, our first annual holiday gathering, Merry Merry Market Barn.
From a wreath making workshop (pre-register here) – to cookie decorating – to make-and-take edible ornaments, we will have fun family activities inspired by the Winter Solstice. Celebrate the Scandinavian tradition of Santa Lucia with Brooke and the kids; mull through the market and listen to live holiday music; soak up some love from farm pups Hudson and Walter; warm up your hands with a cup of hot apple cider from Poppy Bill; sip on a glass of Quarry Hill Wine; snack on a homemade Tamales from Miss Lidia; and shop our collection of fresh apple gift boxes!
We also heard that Santa Clause will be making an appearance from 10am-4pm to listen to all of the dreams your littles have this holiday season. We look forward to celebrating the holiday season with you all. From our farm family to yours at the Merry Merry Market Barn. This event is free and open to the public.
WINTER WREATH MAKING
Using an assortment of fresh winter greens such as cedar, pine, boxwood and magnolia in addition to freshly pruned apple branches, you will be taught how to make your very own festive decor. Register here!
LIVE CHRISTMAS MUSIC
Enjoy festive musical stylings from local musicians in the Market Barn throughout the day while you shop and enjoy the farm. Musical acts to be announced.
PICTURES WITH SANTA!
Have you been naughty or nice this year? Any secrets you need to tell the big man in red before the day comes? Here’s your chance! Santa will be at the Merry Merry Market Barn from 10-4 to listen to all your littles have to say about their dreams this holiday season. Please bring your phone or camera if you would like to take a photo with Mr. Clause himself. Enjoy this memory that your children will cherish for a lifetime.
FRESH APPLE GIFT BOXES
Are you thinking about what to send your loved ones for the holiday season this year? Looking for something fresh, healthy and locally grown? We will be offering examples and taking orders for our Fresh Apple Gift Boxes in person at our Merry Merry Market Barn event! Of course you can always place your order on our website (Shop Around Here), but if you would like the chance to see and feel the quality of the gift you are giving, this is a great opportunity!
WINTER SOLSTICE ORNAMENT CRAFTS
As the nights grow longer, food has also grown scarce for our feathered friends in the orchard. Join us in making edible ornaments to decorate your outdoor trees and provide the local animals with some yummy treats to enjoy their holiday season as well.
SANTA LUCIA CRAFTS
The Scandinavian tradition of celebrating Santa Lucia gives us hope and light during the darkest time of the year. Join Brooke and the kids to craft Santa Lucia dolls and Danish Woven Christmas Hearts to take a little piece of our family tradition home with you.
COOKIE DECORATING
Thanks to our friends at Bake Erie we will be providing solstice inspired sugar cookies to be iced and decorated here at the Market Barn. Bring your kids for a fun activity and tasty treat. Decorating will begin at 10am and will go as long as supplies last!
QUARRY HILL WINE
A holiday gathering is not complete without some libations! Stop by the cash bar in the Market Barn and visit with Emily for a glass of our Quarry Hill Wine to enjoy while shopping and visiting with Santa. Cash bar will be open from 12pm-5pm.
LIDIA’S TAMALES
Our favorite Miss Lidia will be in the Market selling her delicious homemade tamales. Pork, Chicken or Cheese, while supplies last.
