APPLE PEAK FALL GATHERING – OCTOBER 16, 2021
On Saturday, October 16th, 2021 Quarry Hill Orchards will celebrate a true taste of autumn with our annual Apple Peak Harvest Gathering (every year, we host this special event on the 3rd Saturday in October). This event will highlight the peak of harvest, the turning of the leaves, and an appreciation for all things local. This event is free and open to the public.
This harvest gathering will include a Makers Market with a small selection of vintage, handmade, farm-style open air market vendors. Quarry Hill Orchards has teamed up with local and regional favorites to bring a full day of flavors, engaging activities, and unique keepsakes for all ages. Here’s what you can expect: Apple Picking, Wagon Rides, Food Trucks, Local Wine, Blue Ribbon Apple Pie Contest, Vendor Market, Live Music, Honey Demo, Hiking, Apple Butter Demo, Face Painting, and more!

Please park in the grass (yellow highlight) on either side of Humm Road and enjoy a short walk through the grassy lawns to the Market Barn (number 3) where the event will take place (red circle). The parking immediately NEXT to the Market Barn will be very congested and at capacity. Thank you!
We’ve got a great line up of some local musicians who will add a beautiful acoustical backdrop to this special event. Grab a seat at the picnic tables and enjoy the show!

APPLE PIE CONTEST
Calling all bakers and pie enthusiasts! Join the fun for our second annual Blue Ribbon Apple Pie Contest. Download the Contest Form and Instructions Here and we’ll see if you have what it takes to bring home the blue ribbon.
KNIFE FORGING DEMO
Come out to meet JD from Burning River Forge and watch him as he demos how to forge a paring knife (~11am on Saturday 10/16/21) with his anvil, vise, forge, and tools! He may even be able to forge a custom item on the spot for you! He’ll have knives, hooks, and other goodies for sale.
The popular Amazing Moments will have your kids lining up for their turn to get some wearable art including face painting and glitter tattoos.
CORN HUSK DOLLS
The flower crown girls from our Peaches and Cream Fest are back by popular demand helping the kids get creative and make authentic, homemade Corn Husk Dolls.
Our shiny red wagon will venture through our orchards and adjacent Edison Woods Preserve. Enjoy fall colors at their peak and soak up the flora and fauna of the restored native grasslands. The Cub Scouts will mingling the event selling tickets for $6 cash per person (ages 0-2 ride for free!).
Available from 10am – 5pm; look for the white tent on the back lawn with the big PICK YOUR OWN banner; get some direction from our staff (including a highlighted map), purchase your picking bag, snag a wagon and you’re ready to go!
APPLE BUTTER DEMO
Join our friends Linda and Dave next to their Airstream trailer while they demonstrate how to make Apple Butter – a method developed during the Middle Ages over hundreds of years ago! Apples and cider are slow cooked for several hours to a point where the sugar in the apples caramelizes, turning the apple butter a deep brown.
Honey Demo with Stein’s Honey! Learn about the benefits of local raw honey and springtime pollination here at the farm. Check out a glass observation hive on display, and even try on a beekeeper suit (child and adult sizes) to see what is needed to stay safe while working the bees.
Quarry Hill Winery will have a remote “cash bar” located inside our event at the Orchard this year and will be serving wine tastings and wines by the glass. Now there’s more reason to linger a little longer; make sure your glass stays full!
Sheri’s Coffee House will be back serving up hot Chai-der and seasonal coffee beverages to sip in our take-home branded mason jar!

Arrive hungry and support our local food trucks – grab a tasty open faced sandwich or gourmet flatbread from our local friends Bistro Mobile Cuisine, or enjoy some fresh homemade tamales (pork, chicken, or cheese), courtesy of one of our MOST amazing, LOYAL, hardworking staff members, Ms. Lidia!
One of our favorite vendors, friends, and loyal customers (Linda’s Other Life) has been busy sewing up more of Brooke’s favorite (and functional!) aprons in her curated selection of orchard fabrics. First come, first serve! Each one is unique and handmade.
Lake Erie Dogs will be joining the fun providing fresh, homemade treats (no preservatives or artificial colors or flavors!) for your four legged friends. Made in Ohio. Better Dog, Better Life.
Meghan from Lake Love Lettering will be available to custom letter YOUR name on a pumpkin during Apple Peak! She’ll also have some fresh, new designs for fall greeting cards and some orchard inspired vinyl stickers.
Life’s a Beach Maker has created some special decorative pumpkins and apples from old books and Lake Erie driftwood. So cute!
