We are fortunate enough to share a property boundary with approximately 1,300 acres of sandstone cliffs, wetlands, woodlands, and meadows that were dedicated in a conservation purchase a number of years ago.
Managed by the Erie MetroParks, the Edison Woods Preserve is home to a variety of seasonal wildflowers, rare plants, amphibians and reptiles.
The park includes approximately 550 acres of wetland habitats and 400 acres of restored native grasslands. Features include 6 miles of wooded and prairie trails, the Adventure Walkway boardwalk and Geocashing.
We encourage all hikers, birders, runners, horseback riders, letterboxers, Geocashers, and all outdoor enthusiasts to take advantage of this beautiful park as part of your experience here at Quarry Hill. Orchard staff can provide you with trail maps, and an escort to the trailhead can be provided. This is an absolute perfect activity for a family outing to see the leaves changing colors in the fall – it’s breathtaking!
This is the only Erie MetroPark where horseback riding is permitted; the trails are monitored by the Ohio Horseman’s Council, and horses have access to the park via our orchards.
Note: horses have been known to snatch a few apples off the trees along their way…..We are working on providing water troughs and hitching posts at the Orchard Market to better facilitate horses and their riders.
