2:00pm – 5:00pm: Firelands Regional Medical Center (FRMC) will be onsite at the Quarry Hill Orchards Market with a nurse offering blood pressure screenings, a nutritionist who will enlighten you about eating from the earth instead of out of a box; and breast health representatives attending encouraging women to be proactive in breast health. Their presence brings an abundance of resources to help you and your journey to better health and wellness.
2:00pm – 5:00pm: Elite Wellness Group (a Functional Medical Nutrition Business local to Huron, OH) will be onsite educating about how they help people achieve vibrant health. They will also be sharing special offers and coupons as well as demonstrating some of the healthy nutrition + green products available through their office.
2:00pm – 5:00pm: Whole-Food-Plant-Based Advocate and Educator, Laurie Morton will be onsite sharing her personal testimony, favorite recipes, and lifestyle tips and tricks for how to eat a Whole-Foods-Plant-Based Diet. For nearly 10 years, Laurie has been an avid home chef that uses little to no oil, and LOT of beans, grains, seeds, nuts, herbs, spices, and vegetables at nearly every meal. She has attended Cleveland’s own Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn‘s Plantstrong Conference which features Physicians and Nutritional experts by Caldwell’s “How to Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease Team.” If you looking to make a change toward plant based eating, Laurie will help you get started!!!

Join the Friends of Erie MetroParks for a 5K Prediction fun run and guided hikes of various distances through the prairies, orchards, and woods. There will be activities for all ages: hayrides, bobbing for apples, nature crafts, storytelling, live music (by Cleveland’s Brent Kirby), and complimentary refreshments (chili, cookies & apples). The farm stand of Quarry Hill Orchards will be open for those wishing to share the bounty of the harvest. Prizes for top 10 runners who finish closest to their predicted end time. Registration for 5K begins at 2:30 pm with a $5 fee; kids free.

OHIO LOCAL FOODS WEEK – AUGUST 7-13, 2016
Join Ohioans from across the state in a celebration of local foods August 7-13, 2016. Quarry Hill Orchards is working with OSU Extension educators to help showcase local food producers in Northern Ohio. Our on-farm market (open daily 9am-6pm) sources local produce (peppers, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, corn, melons, etc.) and artisan food products (bread, pasta, honey, jams, relishes, etc.) from Northern Ohio’s farmers and food entrepreneurs. Look for the Ohio Proud Logo in our market barn to identify these products.
You are invited to participate in the $10 Ohio Local Foods Challenge by committing to spend at least ten dollars (or more) on your favorite local foods during Ohio Local Foods Week (sign up here). Run, Hike, and Explore the Woods and Prairies

Go Take a Hike Kick-off 2014 will take place on Sunday, September 7, at Edison Woods MetroPark in Berlin Heights from 2:30 until 5:00 p.m. Registration is at 2:30 p.m. and the guided hikes of various distances through the prairie, orchards, and woods will begin promptly at 2:59 p.m. Come early to enjoy the camaraderie and the music of D.J. Ed Dalton!
The event will also include a 5-K run. Registration for Run the Woods is at 1:30, and the race begins at 2:30. The natural terrain course will include Quarry Hill apple orchard, Edison woods and meadows. There will be activities for all ages: hayrides with historical narration of the history of Berlin Heights and Edison Woods, three-legged races, bobbing for apples, nature crafts, storytelling, music, and complimentary refreshments. The farm stand of Quarry Hill Orchard will be open for those wishing to share the bounty of the harvest.

Quarry Hill Orchards will serve as a rest stop for bikers participating in this out and back ride through northern Ohio pastoral countryside. Family and friends of bikers are strongly encouraged to stop at the farm for some fun, and to cheer on your participant!
