Annual Newsletter 1997
Dear Friends,
Someone once said, ”Every man (or woman) must do his own growing, no matter how tall his grandfather was.” However, since most of us firmly believe that individual success is founded upon family unity and sharing, what is passed along is critical.
Two tenets that Bill’s uncle advocated in unspoken ways are these:
- Nothing in excess, everything in moderation
- Successful people seldom give advice, but more often seek it
The “apple picker” in B. C. accepted neither as truth.
Thus, the journey toward self-reliance continues. Our kids are both freshmen. Adrianne will begin at Edison High School, and Ben will be heading to Ohio Northern University. I have been overseeing a modest house renovation and will continue pursuing my master’s degree this fall. The pleasure and pain of the journey is supposed to make us better?
Bill brought in eight peaches this morning for the first taste of the season. The “season” is in sight, although a few days later than in the past. The peach crop looks good. Apples are more modest because of an unusually cool, wet spring that interfered with pollination and crop set.
Hope to see you soon!
